TRS Virtual Health – Medical Care

A TRS Virtual Health medical consult is an affordable alternative to emergency room and urgent care. Many common medical issues can be resolved through the convenience of a phone or video consult. Simply call 855-835-2362, 24/7/365, register online at www.teladoc.com/trsactivecare or download the Teladoc app from your mobile device and log into your Teladoc portal to schedule. 

• The consultation is covered at 100% for TRS-ActiveCare Select plan and TRS-ActiveCare 2 plan. Under the TRS-ActiveCare 1-HD plan your cost is a $30 consultation fee that counts towards your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum. Once your deductible is met you can have a medical visit with a board certified physician and your cost share would be $6.
• Convenient medical care available in the privacy of your own home.
• Guaranteed call back within 60 minutes. The average call back time is less than 15 minutes.
• Treatment from a board certified physician for acute, non-urgent conditions like:
  • Cold and flu symptoms
  • Allergies
  • Bronchitis
  • Ear infections
  • Respiratory infections
  • Sinus problems
  • Skin problems
• Medications are prescribed when appropriate.
• A copy of the consult record will be sent to your primary care provider upon request.
  
  

TRS Virtual Health – Mental Health

You can receive care for mental health conditions by board-certified psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed social workers, counselors or therapists. They can treat anxiety, depression, substance abuse, stress, grief, family issues and more. This TRS Virtual Health telemedicine benefit is available through Teladoc.

• The patient must be 18 years or older.
• You can have an ongoing relationship with the provider.
• Mental health visits are only available over video. You can test your video connection when you schedule the appointment.
  
  

All appointments must be scheduled online or through the Teladoc app and must be scheduled at least 72 hours in advance. Request a time that works best for you and the provider can either accept that time or propose a different time. There is flexible scheduling and appointments are available seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time. Confidential treatment is available at your convenience over video. To schedule a visit:

• Register for a Teladoc account via the web or log in to your account if you have already registered
• Request a visit
• Answer a few questions
• Select your psychiatrist or therapist
• Request a time for your appointment
  
  

Psychiatrists are the only mental health providers that can prescribe medications; they currently prescribe from a limited formulary, including antidepressants. Medications that Teladoc psychiatrists can prescribe include: 

• Antidepressants: Asendin, Celexa, Desyrel, Lexapro, Paxil, Prozac Remeron, Sinequan, Viibryd, Vivactil, Wellbutrin and Zoloft
• Anxiolytics/Sedatives/Hypnotics – Schedule II and IV medications: BuSpar, Benadryl, Melatonin and Rozerem
• Chemical Dependency Adjuncts: ReVia and Vivitrol
• Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors: Emsam
• Miscellaneous: Luvox and Neurontin
  
  

Teladoc’s psychiatrists do not prescribe antipsychotics, mood stabilizers or stimulants. Teladoc’s therapists (psychologists, counselors, therapists, etc.) do not prescribe medications.

TRS Virtual Health – Caring for Your Family

Some family members that are age 18 and over, like adult children or elderly parents, can receive medical care from a board-certified physician too, even if they are not covered by your TRS-ActiveCare Plan. This TRS Virtual Health benefit is available through Teladoc. You can extend the general medicine service to someone you care for with a two-way or three-way video or phone visit with a licensed doctor for a flat fee of $45. 

• Sign up to add family members or loved ones that are not covered by your TRS-ActiveCare Plan.
• Provide legal authorization specifying Caregiver status for the person that is receiving care.
• Request a phone consult with a board-certified doctor.
• The Teladoc physician can share a visit summary with the PCP if requested.

Once enrolled in a TRS-ActiveCare plan, you can save time using self-service tools at Aetna Navigator, your secure member website. There you can:

• Find a network provider in your plan
• Check the status of a claim and print Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements
• Request new ID cards; print temporary ID cards
• Confirm who is covered under your plan
• Check benefits and coverage
• View your personal health record
• Learn about and enroll in wellness programs

Use “Find a Doctor or Facility” to search for providers by name, specialty, procedure or condition.

The TRS-ActiveCare 1-HD and TRS-ActiveCare 2 plans are "Open Access Choice POS II" plans, which work very much like a PPO.

The TRS-ActiveCare Select plan is a network-only plan similar to an HMO.

Important notes regarding TRS-Active Care Select:

• When searching for providers in the ActiveCare Select plan, you must choose from a network based on where you live.
• If you live in or around San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, or Houston (in counties listed below) and elect TRS-ActiveCare Select as your plan option, you will be required to use providers who belong to the Select Whole Health network.
• If you do not live in one of the counties listed in the chart below, you may choose providers from the Select  network.

The Member Payment Estimator lets you find and compare actual costs for common procedures and treatments. Your search results are run through Aetna’s claim system, so you’ll see how much of the deductible you’ve met, plus any copays, coinsurance and plan limits that may apply.

To find the Member Payment Estimator, other cost-of-care tools and hospital quality information, log in to Aetna Navigator. Look for the Coverage & Costs box on your home page.

Aetna Navigator is where you’ll find your Personal Health Record (PHR), an online record of care you’ve received, gathered from your claims information. You can view medical procedures and services received, medications prescribed and preventive and routine care provided – by whom and when. You can also enter your own information, such as over-the-counter drugs and nutritional supplements you use. The PHR also features:

• MedQuery^®, an advanced program that can identify opportunities for better care and better health.  MedQuery works for you by sending personal health recommendations and alerts that appear on your PHR.
• Health and physical activity trackers that let you record important information and measures such as blood pressure, blood glucose, strength training and other daily fitness activities.

To view your PHR, log in to Aetna Navigator. In the “I want to” menu on the left side of your Aetna Navigator home page, select “View Personal Health Record.”
